Ever find an old CD of music you forgot you had? And as soon as you put it in the player, you start singing along like it was yesterday that you last listened to it? That was me on Sunday…I found my soundtrack from Wicked. And boy have I had fun the last few days belting out ballads like “Defying Gravity” and “For Good.” (Can’t you just picture me driving alone in my car singing at the top of my lungs… “un-lim-it-ed…..”)
“I’m through accepting limits ’cause someone says they’re so. Some things I cannot change, but ’til I try I’ll never know!”
I sure do love those lyrics from “Defying Gravity.” And I needed that message this week.
This morning while getting ready for work I was listening to a podcast by Jeff Goins and he was talking about writing, which as you know I love to do. Unfortunately, I don’t make enough time in my schedule to do it. Jeff’s idea was not to block two or three hours once a week to sit down and write, but to write a little bit every day.
His advice this morning was just what I needed to inspire me to try this. Because honestly I want to blog every single day, but I haven’t been able to (or haven’t made myself) carve the time out of my day to do it.
But here’s my plan…to sit down in the quiet and write for at least 15 minutes every day. That may mean I don’t finish some things. (Truth be told I have several unfinished blog posts on my computer now that need to be “tweaked” so maybe I will finish some of those.)
You may be like me – if someone tells you that you can’t do something, you’re going to try even harder to do it. Just because. And I’ve had enough negativity lately for all of us…it’s time to prove the critics wrong!
So my commitment to you is to write SOMETHING every day for the next three months. Maybe an inspirational post or maybe a travel post on my other blog (www.tiffanyervin.com/travels). But something that is not only written, but published. Every day.
And I will do it because I’m through accepting limits just because someone says they’re so.
